MAX WATTERS PREVIEWS SATURDAY'S FIXTURE AGAINST BREWERS

14 September 2023

The striker's pre-match thoughts ahead of the Brewers clash at Oakwell.

GETTING OFF THE MARK

"It was obviously really important, to get your first goal of the season. It's a shame it took a few games but I've got it now.

"There are a lot of games to go, we're still early into the season so plenty more opportunities to add to my tally."

FORM SO FAR THIS SEASON

"We can't go every week winning each game, that's not realistic. We set off with a massive win, then dropped our levels and since then we've picked back up again. It can be like that across the season.

"You've to find consistency, different ways to win.

"It's about working hard, day in, day out and making sure we are up at the right end of the table when it matters."

GETTING SETTLED

"After the transfer window closes it allows us to settle as a group. Everyone wants to be here, everyone wants to play, and we've a good group now and as time goes on, we will only get better and better.

"We've players that have been added, and I give credit to the recruitment team because the new lads have fitted right in.

"Then there are the lads returning from injury like Conor McCarthy and Josh Benson, so we're only getting stronger."

ON BURTON ALBION

"You can't look at how they've started and just expect an easy game. It's not like that. Anyone can beat anyone in this division.

"We've been preparing for the best version of Burton and if we take what we've been working on all week, into Saturday, hopefully we get the result."
