An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at the Barnsley FC Community Trust as a Sports Participation Officer.

Barnsley FC Community Trust is the official charity of Barnsley Football Club with a mission to provide inspiring, high quality inclusive programs and initiatives. Harnessing the reach of Barnsley Football Club, we raise the aspirations of our community, supporting them through positive change.

JOB TITLE: Sports Participation Officer
REPORTING TO: Head of Participation
HOURS OF WORK: 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday (Saturday matchday activities)
CONTRACTUAL STATUS: Permanent
JOB PURPOSE: The post holder will support Head of Participation & Inclusion and deliver and co-ordinate high-quality participation programmes, projects and activities
CLOSING DATE: Friday 13 October

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • A nationally recognised qualification in youth & community work, or a recognised equivalent or UEFA C Football Coaching Certificate

Desirable

  • Management qualification
  • Sports coaching qualifications in a variety of sports
  • First Aid Qualification (or willingness to update)
  • Safeguarding Qualification (or willingness to update)

Key Accountabilities

  • To plan, coordinate, deliver and monitor Sports Participation activities including coaching clubs, birthday parties, holiday courses, matchday activities and local grassroots support
  • To be the main point of contact with Barnsley FC Community Trust colleagues and Barnsley FC representatives in regards to all onsite activities ensuring strong relationships are maintained
  • To deal with enquiries and general day-to-day liaison with Schools, Funders, customers and colleagues
  • To creatively and proactively promote and expand the reach of participation activitie
  • To develop an innovative and varied programme of activity at Oakwell, increasing participation levels across all sessions
  • To effectively manage, monitor and evaluate support staff performance in relation to activities delivered
  • To manage workloads, both independently and collaboratively, with a range of colleagues and working to tight deadlines
  • Support the Manager in the management of expenditure and budgets for all participation activities
  • To plan, coordinate and deliver onsite celebration events and tournaments to project participants
  • To work with colleagues throughout Barnsley FC Community Trust to extend knowledge and skills in order to identify and develop best practice
  • To be prepared to work daytime activities, evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the role and Barnsley FC Community Trust's wider work
  • To deliver high quality football/sporting coaching opportunities and experiences to local children and young people of all abilities that is structured and progressive
  • To effectively market and promote Barnsley FC Community Trust to ensure the recruitment of children, young people and other potential beneficiaries
  • To ensure all delivery is high quality, engaging and provides the best experience for participants
  • To keep up to date with data input and monitoring and evaluating projects through the use of Views/Salesforce
  • To establish and carry out the relevant administration, prepare reports, undertake research, provide briefings, attend meetings and provide management information as necessary
  • To maintain and develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • To proactively promote Barnsley FC Community Trust to ensure awareness, growth, and expansion of its work
  • To ensure compliance with all Barnsley FC Community Trust Policies and Procedures across all areas of work
  • To represent Barnsley FC Community Trust in a professional manner and consistent with Core Values
  • To undertake training and CPD as necessary and relevant to the post
  • To assist with the organisation of specific CPD events for Barnsley Community Trust staff
  • To generally assist in any tasks required in the operation of Barnsley FC Community Trust as directed by the Head of Foundation and Head of Participation & Inclusion. Any changes arising will take into account salary and status. They will be subject to discussion with individuals or sections within the organisation
