VALÉRIEN ISMAËL
Joining the Reds as Head Coach in October of 2020, Valérien Ismaël arrived looking to follow in the footsteps of Gerhard Struber, making the switch from Austria to England.
With a successful spell at LASK Linz fresh in the memory, Ismaël made his way to these shores for a second time having played in the Premier League for Crystal Palace in 1997/98.
Great success in his playing days for the likes of Strasbourg, Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich, the former defender has made great strides in his coaching career having also served VfL Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga.
His impact at Oakwell will go down in folklore. Guiding the Reds to the Sky Bet Championship play-offs after a stunning 5th-placed finish was above all expectations.
