JACK WALTON

Having joined the Academy at Oakwell from Bolton Wanderers as a 15-year-old, Walton quickly impressed the staff at the club as he became the regular 'keeper in the U18s.

Jack gained recognition when he trained with the England U18s squad at just 17-years-old.

He signed a three-year professional deal with the Reds in the summer of 2015 and has since forced his way into the first team reckoning, making three starts at the end of the 2017/18 season and a number of appearances in the 2018/19 League One promotion campaign. His outstanding display away at Walsall in a 1-0 victory the highlight of his promising career so far.

Walton found himself third choice throughout most of the 2019/20 season until coming in for the final nine games of the campaign where his impressive performances (five clean sheets) proved pivotal in the Reds retaining their Championship status.

That terrific form saw him rewarded with a new, three-year deal heading into the 2020/21 campaign where he played regularly until the turn of the year, as Brad Collins edged him out on the way to a play-off place.

The 2021/21 season was a frustrating one for Jack, deputising once again. Selected only for cup ties, he did regain the gloves towards the end of that campaign, when Collins was struck by injury at the tail-end of what proved to be a relegation season.
