The current Reds captain and former England youth international defender was signed in the summer of 2016 by Paul Heckingbottom from non-league Torquay United for a nominal fee.
With the departure of Alfie Mawson happening late in the transfer window, Angus was quickly thrust into action, starring in a 4-0 win over Rotherham United on debut. He would later fight off Adam Jackson for a regular starting place alongside Marc Roberts at the heart of the Reds defence.
MacDonald became something of a fans favourite in his first year at Oakwell, memorably scoring a last-minute equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday, being voted Community Player of the Year and putting pen to paper on a contract extension taking him up to the summer of 2019.
A tricky start to the 2017/18 campaign saw Angus in and out of the first team owing to suspension, injury and lack of form. He will be looking to make a positive impact once more in 2018.
