JASPER MOON

Having joined as a scholar, Jasper had been part of the Reds’ Academy since June 2017 and put in a number of impressive displays at youth level. The young centre-back/midfielder had been involved on a couple of occasions for our U23s side in 2018/19 pre-season preparations.

He spent time on loan with York City at the end of the 2018/19 campaign and was part of the first team set-up that travelled to France and Germany ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Outstanding performances in the U23s would soon see him catapulted into the first team reckoning.

Jasper would make his first team debut for the Reds in a South Yorkshire derby victory at Rotherham, in the final game of 2020 before starting his first game in the final game of the 2020/21 season against Champions, Norwich City in a 2-2 draw, operating in a new, holding midfield role. 

The following season was a breakthrough campaign for the youngster, who was used for much of the first half of the season, primarily in defence, before a change of coach saw his appearances limited as Barnsley slipped into the third tier. 

With game-time proving limited during the first half of the following campaign, Moon would sign a contract extension before going on to join Burton Albion in a loan deal during January of 2023 and would play an integral part in the Brewers' great second half of the season.
