LUCA CONNELL
An industrious midfielder with a wonderfully creative left foot, Luca arrived at Oakwell on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, following a three-year spell in Scotland with Celtic, where he failed to break into the first team.
It was as a teenager with Bolton Wanderers where Connell first shot to prominence in 2019, earning that big move to Glasgow. And whilst he didn't get a run out with the giants of Celtic Park, he enjoyed two exceptional seasons out on-loan with another Glasgow club in Queen's Park.
Luca's form for the Spiders, where back-to-back promotions were achieved, saw him snapped up by the Reds ahead of the 22/23 campaign.
His displays across his debut season at Oakwell saw him finish second to Mads Andersen in the vote for Player of the Season, such was his impact in a deep-lying playmaker role.
Plenty of assists and a couple of exceptional goals stand out, but his work without the ball was second to none as he proved to be a key performer as the Reds reached the Play-Off Final.
