AN EASTER MESSAGE FROM OUR CLUB CHAPLAIN

31 March 2024

Why did the Easter egg hide during the football match? Because it heard the referee was cracking down on fouls! I know, what a terrible yolk!

Dear Barnsley Football Club family,

As we approach the joyous occasion of Easter, I am filled with a sense of hope and renewal that extends far beyond the football pitch. Easter is a time of celebration, a time to reflect on the profound significance of Jesus Christ’s suffering paved in red, His sacrifice by His death and His resurrection that gives us the opportunity to embrace the promise of ‘new life’ – by believing in Him.

In the midst of our busy schedules and the demands of the season, it can be easy to overlook the deeper meaning of Easter. Yet, it is during these moments of reflection that we understand the boundless love that surrounds us.

The two significant reds that influences my life personally are: firstly, the blood of Jesus that redeems us from our sin, which is the representation on the St. George’s cross that is in red and secondly our dear Club, the Reds that I fully support. The story of Easter is one of triumph over adversity, of light overcoming darkness, and of hope conquering despair. It serves as a powerful reminder that no matter how daunting the challenges we face may seem, there is always hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Pastor Zac Zachariah with his Barnsley FC bible

Just as the arrival of spring brings new life to the world around us, so too does Easter bring new hope to our hearts. As some of us may gather with our loved ones to celebrate this sacred occasion, let us remember the importance of gratitude, humility, and compassion. Let us extend a hand of friendship to those in need and let us be a beacon of light in a world that often feels shrouded in darkness.

And as we continue our journey together as a team, let us draw strength from the message of Easter, knowing that we are never alone, and that with faith and perseverance, anything is possible. Praying for strength over all the fans, staff, owners and volunteers, managers team, first team, women’s team, the youth academy and those recovering from injuries; may this Easter be a time of joy, renewal, abundant blessings for you and your loved ones and fill your hearts with hope and your souls with peace.

With warmest regards and Christian blessings,

Pastor Zac Zachariah
