Vicky Stead, Community Relationships Manager at Barnsley Hospice, spoke of her excitement ahead of the day: "On behalf of everyone at Barnsley Hospice I would like to say a huge thank you to Barnsley Football Club for their continued support.

"Our staff and volunteers love our takeover day every year and really enjoy the community feel and the rapport that we have built with fans over the years is amazing.

"We will all be rooting for the Reds as always and after recent results it’s definitely looking like a great season."

Barnsley CEO, Jon Flatman, added: "We're delighted to be able to help Barnsley Hospice and promote the fantastic work they do in our local community.

"The care they provide for our local people is second to none and means so much to everyone. I urge all Reds fans to support if they are able to and give to such a wonderful cause.

"We wish Simon Atkinson and the team all the best and are proud to support their achievements."
