JESS HORSLEY REVIEWS SUNDAY'S WIN AGAINST REDCAR

26 March 2024

We got the post-match thoughts of Jess Horsley as the Women secured another comfortable win against the visiting Redcar on home soil at the weekend.

Goals from Betty Cheetham and a Jodie Gregory hat-trick ensured a second successive 4-1 home victory for Barnsley FC Women.

Naturally, Head Coach, Jess Horsley was in positive mood when speaking with us soon after the final whistle at Oakwell.

"It's always good to get another win," Jess told us. "It wasn’t the best performance we’ve had but Redcar were slowing the game down at every opportunity so it was sometimes difficult for us to play our game.

"But another win and to score four goals is what’s most important and we can take that into the next game away at Alnwick."

Spennymoor's late winner at Wallsend really upset the apple cart, and it's looking even tighter in that top four with only the champions to be promoted.

Horsley noted that result but stated that the focus can only be on her own side.

"Obviously we are disappointed not to get a clean sheet but we still came away with the three points. This keeps us in the title race, even more so after the Spennymoor and Wallsend result.

"We just need to keep focusing on ourselves and take each game at as it comes to keep ourselves in the race."
