CHARLEY EVANS PREVIEWS SUNDAY'S GAME

14 March 2024

The Women's team are back on home turf this weekend when welcoming fellow promotion-hopefuls Sunderland West End in a 2pm kick off.

We caught up with the captain, Charley Evans to get a feel for Sunday's clash.

"We’re excited to get back to league action this Sunday." Charley told us.

"We’ve been working hard in training, week in, week out and constantly seeing the improvement in our performances."

That is certainly the case with the Reds' performances improving over the course of this, their first proper season under the BFC umbrella.

But owing to poor weather, injuries and a couple of defeats over recent weeks, the flying form that Barnsley were enjoying has been stymied somewhat.

Evans believes it's crunch time and is confident that the team are good enough to challenge for the title, and ultimately, promotion for the second season running.

"We’ve got players returning from injury meaning we’ve had that healthy competition for shirts, which is showing the depth of quality we have in the squad.

"The last game we played ended positively (a 6-0 away win in the League Cup), with a confident win and plenty of players on the scoresheet. I’m hoping we can take that confidence into Sunday and show that we’re still competing for the league."

Be sure to join Charley and the girls this Sunday at Oakwell for the 2pm kick off.

It's being played on the Astroturf, FREE entry and refreshments will be available!
