As part of the EFL's Youth Development Week, highlighting the impact our young players make on English football, we caught up with the versatile captain of our U18s, Jonathan Bland!
Just 18-years-old but one of the most mature and professional young players you're ever likely to meet, 'Jono' Bland captained the U18s to the PDL title last season and his form in the younger age groups was noted by Neill Collins who gave him his first team debut earlier this season.
That sub appearance in the EFL Trophy against Manchester City was quickly followed by a professional deal for the youngster who has been on international duty with the Welsh U19s squad as well this season.
"I can't put into words what that meant, how it felt, making my debut this season. I don't think I slept that night. It was a proud moment for myself and my family and I'm just grateful for the opportunity that I've been given because this is all I've been working for since I can remember."
