JORDAN WILLIAMS ASSESSES VICTORY OVER CARLISLE

17 January 2024

Our captain spoke to iFollow Barnsley after the Reds ran out 2-1 winners at Oakwell on Tuesday night in Sky Bet League One against Carlisle United.

The Reds had to come from behind to wrap up all three points against the Blues in a second-half comeback under the lights at Oakwell.

Luke Armstrong's strike inside ten minutes was cancelled out by Devante Cole's pinpoint finish in the 58th minute.

Adam Phillips was brought down in the area on 85 minutes, the referee pointing to the spot and Herbie Kane stepping up to smash home in front of the Ponty End and make it ten unbeaten in the league for the Reds.

Williams provided an insight to how the Reds shook off their malaise and turned it around after the restart.

"We definitely didn't start the game how we wanted to start the game. Nowhere near good enough. But I think the main thing for us was trying to get the three points and I think the belief in the changing room was always there. Coming in at half-time we regrouped, scored two goals and got the job done. That's the main thing."
