Jamie McCart spoke to iFollow Barnsley after the Reds drew 1-1 with Wigan Athletic on New Year's Day in Sky Bet League One.
The Scot returned to the starting eleven to face the Latics after missing out on the previous game against Peterborough United due to a groin injury.
McCart was disappointed to miss out, but felt the game was too soon for him after our Boxing Day victory against Port Vale.
"I was desperate to play today. It was tough to miss out on Peterborough, but it was just too close with the injury. But anyway I can help the team I'll try."
Speaking on the game, the defender felt the second half performance wasn't played to the best of the Reds' ability but praised the team on the points garnered over the festive period.
"I think when you look back over it, it's probably a fair result. First-half, I thought we played pretty well. We created a few chances, but so did they, they're a very good team, we know that. Then in the second half, we never really got going. It's a tough period right now, so to get eight points from the games, it's a decent return."
