KIEREN FLAVELL EXTENDS STAY WITH REDS

8 January 2024

Barnsley Football Club is pleased to announce the contract extension of Kieren Flavell.

The goalkeeper has been part of the setup at Oakwell since the age of eight, extending his stay with the Club until the end of the season with a further one-year option.

Two serious knee injuries have hampered the 20-year-old’s playing time during the last couple of seasons, but Flavell is back fit and ready to show the form that has caught the attention of England’s youth teams.

“It’s brilliant,” he smiled, talking to iFollow Barnsley. “To say I’ve been here since the age of eight and I’m twenty years old now, I can’t wait.

“I’ve been here since I was a kid, I just loved supporting Barnsley. Then to get the opportunity to play for Barnsley as a young lad, it’s every boy’s dream. To still be at the Club, it’s amazing.”

Tom Harban, Senior Professional Development Phase Coach at Oakwell, added: “We are pleased to see Kieren sign a contract extension and continue his progression at Barnsley.

“We know that Kieren hasn’t played as much football as he would have liked in recent seasons due to injury, but we believe in his ability and are confident that he can demonstrate this on a consistent basis at Oakwell.

“He has been a pleasure to work with over the years and we now look forward to continuing the pathway plan we have in place and to see where Kieren’s potential can take him.”
