Neill Collins spoke to iFollow Barnsley after our Sky Bet League One with Stevenage was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
A pitch inspection was planned for 11am at The Lamex Stadium after which the referee called another check on the playing surface at 1pm.
It was after this final inspection that the referee, Sam Purkiss postponed the match as he deemed the pitch still unsafe for action.
Our Head Coach provided his immediate reaction to the news pitch side in Hertfordshire:
"I'm really frustrated and disappointed. There's a lot of talk about how everything we do is for the fans, but I think today is a sign that's a saying that people use when it suits them. I think the Football League need to have a review of how they handle these situations.
"We've ended up making a subjective decision about what is safe for players, and based on some of the pitches I've seen around the league recently and what we are going to play on. How one man decides that is safe for players because it's slightly firm, and based on some of the soft pitches filled with sand that are going to cut up over the coming months - they're going to be fine, so really frustrated about that.
"But again, biggest frustration for me is that 1300 Barnsley fans were coming to support the team."
💬 "Football's for the fans - but today shows that's a saying that people use when it suits them."
