This weekend, Weston Park Cancer Charity are hosting their annual takeover day at Oakwell as the Reds entertain Derby County.
Club captain, Jordan Williams spoke of the importance of raising awareness and funds for this magnificent cause that does so much to support those who have been affected by cancer.
A transport system operates from the stadium, with a minibus service taking patients to Weston Park Cancer Charity and back free of charge, which alleviates the additional stress of finding somewhere to park upon arrival.
“Without the transport service, some of the patients wouldn’t be able to get the treatment that they need because some of them have to go in every day for five weeks,” said Williams.
“For them, it’s a lot of money – they have to pay for petrol and parking – so, things like this here and at Chesterfield and Meadowhall, is massive for people to have the opportunities to get the treatment and support they need.”
We also spoke with Sharon Lunn, a volunteer driver for the past two years, and Weston Park Cancer Charity’s Darren Hayes to get an insight on what this special partnership means.
