DONOVAN PINES ON MAKING HIS REDS DEBUT

18 February 2024

Fresh from making his Reds debut, Donovan Pines spoke to iFollow Barnsley after our 2-1 victory over Fleetwood Town.

The Reds demonstrated grit and determination on the road once again to gain three points against the Cod Army and complete an unbeaten week for Neill Collins' side.

Our January recruit, Pines, was named amongst the substitutes for the clash but was called back to the dugout to get stripped just before the hour mark. The scores finely poised at 1-1, Herbie Kane swept home from inside the area with the American celebrating on the touchline, prepped to enter the fray.

The 25-year-old did join the action and played the remaining 30 minutes as the Reds battled against the conditions and the threat of Fleetwood, but the Reds held strong and took all three points back over the Penines.

Pines described his emotions when reflecting on his debut:

"It was amazing. It was really fun. I'm super, super grateful for the fans and the supporters that came out. To my teammates for encouraging me, staying positive, and it was just a really surreal experience. To get my first 30 minutes and to be with the team in this environment and get the three points."
