TODAY'S OPEN TRAINING SESSION

15 February 2024

For this morning's training session we were joined by 824 Reds supporters!

A huge thank you to the hundreds of fans who lined up on the training ground here at Oakwell today to watch Neill Collins and his staff put the Reds players through their paces ahead of Saturday's game away at Fleetwood Town.

There were 824 of you with us, an outstanding number with so many families making the journey during Half Term. They got to see the lads putting in the hard yards as preparations continued for the weekend.

Martin Devaney, Assistant Head Coach shared his thoughts, before training got underway: "It's fantastic to see so many fans turn up, obviously it's a short turnaround so the session is quite light this morning but hopefully everyone enjoys it as we build up to the Fleetwood game on Saturday."

With warm-up exercises and a number of small-sided games, the fans were able to see how the staff get the squad into shape, ready for their next challenge.

Supporters were also able to see Josh Benson, back in training for the first time in a while following injury whilst Robbie Cundy was also doing fitness work, away from the main group. A number of academy players also got involved, with the likes of Devaney, Jon Stead and Tom Fawdry encouraging the group throughout.

Head Coach, Neill Collins was thankful for the support: "I just want to say thanks to all those who came down this morning, it was an absolutely unbelievable turnout, 820 odd fans which just shows you the backing that we are getting.

"We really appreciate it, it was great to meet everyone and hopefully we'll see plenty of you on Saturday when we travel to Fleetwood."

The morning was rounded off by the players and staff meeting the fans, posing for photos and signing autographs, whilst the kids from our Community Trust soccer camp were also visited, putting smiles on faces on what was a terrific event.

Reds Interim CEO, Jon Flatman remarked: "This is what we're all about - a community club, fans and club together as one. It was amazing to see so many families attend. It's big credit to our staff for organising the event and to Neill in particular for allowing us to open up his session to the supporters."
