LOAN ROUND UP | 17.02.24

19 February 2024

A summary of how our Reds fared for their loan clubs over the weekend.

Jack Shepherd scored his first EFL goal for Cheltenham Town, an equaliser to make it 2-2 at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium against Port Vale. A bouncing ball in the box following a corner for the Robins fell to our centre-back, who made no mistake with his left peg, emphatically volleying into the top corner on the swivel.

Darrell Clarke's side went on to win 3-2 and secure a crucial three points in the relegation picture in League One, making it three victories on the spin for the Glocuestershire side.

Kacper Lopata started at the back for the Valiants and completing his first full game since his move in January.

Kyran Lofthouse was up against a familiar face in Conor McCarthy at the weekend, MK Dons travelling to the County Ground in Sky Bet League Two. The Dons raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening ten minutes, with Swindon adding to the scoring a minute from time. Lofthouse assisted for the opener and was brought off just after the hour mark, with McCarthy playing the full 90 minutes.

It was a Barnsley battle between the sticks as Kieren Flavell and Paul Cooper faced off for Bradford Park Avenue and Ashton United respectively in the Northern Premier League. The spoils were shared in a 1-1 draw.

Buxton FC ran out 3-1 winners in National League North against Banbury United. Joe Ackroyd played the full match, the victory taking the Bucks to 14th.

Andy Dallas, Oli Shaw and Callum Styles did not feature for Oldham, Motherwell and Sunderland respectively.
