NEILL COLLINS SPEAKS AHEAD OF SHREWS TRIP

12 February 2024

Neill Collins conducted his pre-match press conference ahead of our trip to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night.

REFLECTIONS ON SATURDAY'S VICTORY

"An excellent three points, but the manner that it happened was a little bit special. It showed a lot about what this team have shown this year, in terms of great resilience. It was not so long ago that we were talking about how this Club hasn't had a comeback win in two years. It says a lot. This team is never beaten, they're never out. Even with ten men, to get that goal, it was well deserved in the end. It was great to see the fans, the players, everyone together. Hopefully we can just keep building from that."

INJURY UPDATES

"Jamie McCart comes back into contention for tomorrow night. Again, just consider that Jamie has played one game in the last seven or eight weeks. But he's definitely back in contention. Josh Benson will be back training with the group on Thursday for the first time. We'll need to get him one or two games with the U21s but what a huge boost that will be. Robbie Cundy was out on the grass today doing fitness work but moving really well and doing really well. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that Robbie will be able to make an impact between now and the end of the season."

ON TABLE POSITION

"We always want more. We look at certain games and think we left a few points out there, give or take. But I think, as I've mentioned, if we took our form from the last 25 games, if we can replicate that, we'll be in a really good position come the end of the season. Since the first four or five games of the season, the team have been really consistent. We just need to sustain that form to put us where we want to be."

ON SHREWSBURY TOWN

"Really difficult game. They've just drawn away to Derby in what was a really tight game. A draw could be considered a fair result. Paul Hurst's an excellent manager, a great appointment. That's going to have a big impact. You can see from the games all around the league, the weekend is a good example, it's so tough. All the teams need the points for different reasons. Our players and ourselves need to be very aware that whoever we are playing right now, are very difficult. We'll need to be as good as we've been to get another three points."
