NEILL COLLINS ASSESSES LATE VICTORY AT OAKWELL

11 February 2024

Neill Collins spoke post-match to iFollow Barnsley after the Reds beat Leyton Orient 2-1 at Oakwell on Saturday.

Following a dramatic encounter in which the Reds scored two goals in the final seven minutes of the match courtesy of Adam Phillips, our Head Coach gave his reaction for iFollow Barnsley.

Orient have not lost a game this season when taking the lead, so things may have seemed ominous for the Reds after Ruel Sotiriou side-footed home inside the opening ten minutes.

However, the Reds fought back in the final stages in emphatic fashion to create ecstatic scenes after Phillips' added time winner and ended the visitors' superb unbeaten run of eight games.

Collins highlighted the effect of how the players and crowd came together to help secure an important three points in the league:

"It's not the way we planned it! Losing the early goal is always an issue. But the players responded really, really well, as did the crowd. Together, we just kept going right to the very end. You can see at the end, even with ten men, when everyone is up, it's very difficult. So pleased for everyone that I think we got a deserved win and goal."
