NEILL COLLINS REVIEWS BOLTON DRAW

4 February 2024

Neill Collins provided his reaction to our 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers in Sky Bet League One.

The Reds took the lead in a hotly-anticipated clash between two sides at the top end of the table via Devante Cole's clever finish, his 17th of the campaign, inside the opening five minutes at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

It was an end-to-end affair in the first half, with both sides finding space on the counter-attack but struggling to apply the finishing touch on a cold, February afternoon.

The hosts did manage to find an equaliser with Zac Ashworth heading home at the back post following a delivery from Aaron Collins just after the hour mark.

Ending level, our Head Coach praised the level of performance his side delivered against one of the in-form teams in League One:

"I thought it was an excellent performance," he opened. "I thought the players put in a fantastic amount of effort but also a lot of quality. We got the goal, but I thought we created two or three good chances in the first half, but also had to work and defend. Bolton gave us a few problems in the first half, but coming out for the second half, I thought the players were excellent.

"We really should have made it 2-0, so, we're disappointed to be only taking one point, but I think that says how good the performance was that we're disappointed with a point at possibly one of the best teams in the league."
