BETH SEFTON | 12 MONTHS ON

16 February 2024

This weekend will mark 12 months since our Head Of Ticketing, Beth Sefton was rushed into hospital requiring life-saving surgery.

A beloved member of the team behind the scenes here at Oakwell and enormously popular with Reds supporters for well over a decade, Beth and her family have been through so much in the last year but her husband, Kieron and we as a Club have endeavoured to keep the Barnsley FC fanbase updated where possible.

Kieron has provided us with the following info, in his own words.

A year ago, all of our lives were suddenly changed when Beth suffered a near-fatal aneurysm and was rushed to hospital.

None of us will forget that first morning gathered in a family room at Barnsley Hospital's A&E unit, nor the weekend we spent camping on chairs while Beth underwent multiple rounds of life-saving surgery, or the weeks of uncertainty before she woke up again.

After all that, Beth began her long road to recovery, facing multiple setbacks and further scares along the way.

12 months on, things are looking brighter.

Last Saturday, Beth was able to return home for the first time in nearly a year and enjoy watching Barnsley's win against Leyton Orient with her family.

While she is still not yet able to return home full-time, things are slowly but surely returning to a sort of normal. We expect to have Beth home for good sooner rather than later, and that she'll continue to further recover from her ordeal as time goes on.

Throughout all of this, Beth has never forgot the club, the fans or her colleagues, and has mentioned them often.

We thank everyone again for their support, well-wishes, touching anecdotes and everything else over the last year.

Tomorrow (Saturday 17th February), Beth will again spend a few hours at home with Kieron tuned into iFollow Barnsley, rooting for the Reds in Fleetwood. We would absolutely love it if those who are part of the sold-out away crowd would either applaud or sing for Beth in the 12th minute. This would mean so much to all involved.

Make us proud, Reds.
