An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with us here at Barnsley Football Club as First Team Physiotherapist.

First Team Physiotherapist

Location: Oakwell Stadium

Department: Medical

Reporting to: Lead Physiotherapist

Salary: £30,000

Contract type: Permanent

Job Description: Assist the Lead Physiotherapist in providing medical provision for first team players including clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured players for both training and matchdays.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Assist in the clinical management of the playing squad for illness and injuries
• Assist in the clinical preparation of the playing squad on both training and match days (home and away)
• Assist in pitch side emergency first aid on both training and match days
• Support the process to standardise pre-injury assessment tools for objective monitoring during rehabilitation and as return to play markers for the management of commonly occurring musculoskeletal injuries
• Assist in the design and delivery of injury rehabilitation for commonly occurring musculoskeletal injuries (including gym-based exercise prescription, outside rehabilitation and hydrotherapy etc.)
• Assist in the organisation and delivery of pre-signing medicals in accordance with club protocols
• Support the process of the Club and EFLs protocol for concussion assessment and management using both paper and computerised tools
• Maintain a comprehensive database of note-keeping in accordance with professional standards requirements
• Provide a multidisciplinary approach to medical care, building professional relationships to those specialities both within the club and externally
• Assist in the monitoring and ordering of medical supplies from externally sourced companies
• Execute additional tasks as required to meet the changing priorities of the medical department, first team and the club
• This job description is not intended to be exhaustive, and the post holder is also required to undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required by the lead physiotherapist or any other senior leader/director within the club, appropriate to the level of the post

Area of Expertise

Experience • A minimum of three years postgraduate experience

• Experience of working in an elite sporting environment (preferably football)
• Experience of working in a first team football environment 

Qualifications and Professional Accreditation • HCPC registered physiotherapist

• FA Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) Certificate, or equivalent • FA Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF) Certificate, or equivalent

• Completed or working towards a postgraduate qualification in Physiotherapy or Sports Medicine related

• Child Protection/ Safeguarding certificate
Specific Skills and Knowledge • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Able to work as both a team and individually

• Creative and proactive approach to problem-solving • IT skills, including the ability to manage and work with data and associated systems (e.g. Excel and Catapult electronic database systems or equivalent)
