Having joined the Reds on Thursday evening, Jamie McCart spoke to iFollow Barnsley about his move here on loan until the end of the season.
"I'm delighted to be here. As soon as I got the call about the interest, to join Barnsley, it was a no-brainer to me. The stature of the club, it was too hard to turn down."
Having turned 26 earlier this summer, and with chances limited at parent club, Rotherham United, our new addition felt he had to seek fresh opportunities and when the Reds came calling this week, it was something the Scotsman grabbed with both hands.
He told us: "The club here as a whole, seeing them over the past few years, it's somewhere with a defined style of play, where players develop and flourish. I've only heard good things about Barnsley.
"With the gaffer here too, that was a strong point for me. I know that if I work hard every day I'm going to get an opportunity and then it's over to me to show what I'm about."
Having already played over 200 games in a career that started with Scottish giants Celtic as a youngster, McCart is tried and tested.
A trophy winner in his homeland, European football under his belt, the left-footed centre back moved across the border last summer hoping to push on but found it tough to stake a claim at our near neighbours.
For Jamie now, it's about proving his worth and he believes that he can bring numerous qualities to Neill Collins' squad.
"I will always drive standards. Whether that's through my training or out there in games. But I need to work hard first of all to get into the team.
"I can bring experience and leadership. We've some very good players in this group, you only have to look how close they came last season, losing in a play-off final. So obviously, the ambition is promotion again, and if we are aligned in our vision, there's no reason why that cannot be possible this time around."
