After joining the Reds on a season-long loan, Owen Dodgson spoke exclusively to iFollow Barnsley
"This is a big club. Look at the fans, the history, I jumped at the chance and I'm very happy to be here."
The 20-year-old left wing-back made a seasonal loan move to Oakwell on Transfer Deadline Day, leaving Premier League outfit Burnley.
Owen believes he's ready to grasp this opportunity with both hands.
"I know what is expected here," he began. "Seeing where the club finished last season, whilst obviously gutting not to win the final, this is a good group and with hard work I know what I need to do."
The youngster will offer competition on the left flank, after a spell in League Two last term with Rochdale. That was his first taste of professional action really and he feels that he grew game by game in 2022/23 and is raring to put on the Red shirt and prove he can compete in League One this time around.
"With every game I grew in confidence, which is what it is all about for me as a young player on loan." Dodgson admitted.
"It was good experience last year, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there but now my focus is on Barnsley and getting this team back where it belongs."
