NEILL COLLINS AHEAD OF COBBLERS TRIP

21 September 2023

Our Head Coach looks ahead to our trip to Northampton Town in Sky Bet League One this Saturday.

ON TEAM NEWS

"We've still got a couple of bruises and bumps to assess. All in all, I think we should be relatively unscathed heading into Northampton.

"Robbie (Cundy) has still got a couple of boxes to tick in terms of settling something down but it is heading in the right direction.

"Luca's started to be at the training ground more regularly and starting to do very light exercise. It's a step forward, but don't be asking me in a week's time if he's ready! It's still very, very early days stages but it's a positive sign to see him."

REFLECTING ON TUESDAY NIGHT

"I think our decision-making but also our execution of some basic things. Football can be strange. The other night, just as we looked like we were going to have our first attack, building a bit of pressure, we end up down the other end, penalty. Then quickly after we've lost another goal. That distorts a lot of what happened in the first half but we have to be able to deal with that better."

ON OPTIONS FROM THE BENCH

"It was important. You never want to bring people off at half-time. I think the way the game was it was obvious we wanted to freshen things up and give them a different look. We had a lot of options and I think it says a lot about the squad we have got and we do have a lot of strength in depth. We have a lot of guys that need opportunity."

ON NORTHAMPTON

"Northampton have really impressed me. I've actually watched them quite a few times because they've played quite a few of our opponents. In the time that I've been scouting the teams that we've playing against, Northampton have been coming up. They like to play, like to pass it, like to build up. Newly-promoted, but I think that they've had a pretty solid start. They don't score loads, they don't concede loads. They've been involved in a lot of tight games. We need to be prepared for a tight game.

"Away from home, I feel this year as like every other year, it's going to be tough. Especially when Barnsley are coming to town, the fans are going to be up for it. Another big challenge for us."
