NEILL COLLINS PREVIEWS ROBINS TRIP

1 September 2023

Our Head Coach spoke to the assembled media as we prepare to travel to Cheltenham Town on Saturday in Sky Bet League One action.

ON LUCA CONNELL'S AWARD RECOGNITION

"I'm sure we're going to get around to potential new additions, but it will be great to have one of the best players in the league last year in our team, Luca. It's a huge achievement, especially for someone so young. It's great to know that we've got a player like that to come back.

"It's exciting that he does look to be on the road to recovery, very early stages, but it's just great to have him back around the place and see him pick up that award. I'm looking forward to getting him back as part of the squad."

ON INJURIES

"We'll make a decision tomorrow [on Liam Kitching], but probably err on the side of caution. I think when you've played with an injury like he has, we've tried to get it right. That's why we left him out last night. I think it would be remiss of us to then make any setbacks when we look at the season ahead. There's always a chance."

ON THE TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY

"There's a lot of noise around the transfer window and that affects some people. That indirectly affects what we can and can't do. It will be great, and I'm sure it will be great for every club in many aspects. The window is shut, this is what we've got, let's get to work. The players have been excellent this week, the attitude has been excellent. So, regardless of the background noise, the players have done a good job this week of blocking that out and getting on with it. I'll definitely be pleased when it's over then everyone is very focused."

ON CHELTENHAM TOWN

"I'll tell you first that we go to win every game, no matter who we play, where we play them, we want to win every game and that is our aim. Go into every game to win it. Saturday will be no different.

"I know for a fact that as an ex-professional footballer it can be very difficult to play against a team that is on a run like that because you know that these guys are resilient, they're gonna be well up for it so that will make it a very difficult test. I think every game in League One right now when you look across the schedule is very difficult. We're going in to match everything that Cheltenham bring but then also add some more quality that can win us the game. We prepare the same way as we did for Wigan, hopefully, it will be the same attitude."
