Barnsley FC is proud to announce that midfielder Callum Styles has been named the winner of the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month award for September.
The voting, which was open to all football fans, confirmed the Hungarian international as last month's victor after a stunning strike in an away victory for the Reds.
Styles' incredible effort came at Sixfields during our match against Northampton Town on 23 September.
In the 4th minute of the game, he received a bouncing ball just inside the Cobblers' half. With confidence oozing, Styles took on the attempt first time and unleashed a powerful shot that sailed over the goalkeeper and into the top corner of the net. The sheer audacity and execution of the strike left fans and pundits alike in awe.
On winning the award, the 23-year-old talked through what was going through his mind before pulling the trigger from range:
“I’m delighted to win the Goal of the Month award for September.
“It was pure instinct to hit the ball straight away when it was bouncing towards me and luckily I caught it well and it went in.
“Most importantly it helped us get the three points and was part of a great performance by the team on the road.
“Thank you to all the fans who voted for me, it means a lot.”
