LOAN ROUND UP

16 October 2023

Our Reds out on loan made a mark during the international break!

Despite the EFL pausing for the international fixtures over the weekend, a number of Reds players made an impact for their loan clubs in Emirates FA Cup action.

Non-league clubs battled it out in the fourth qualifying round for a place in the first round proper, with two of our loanees progressing with their respective teams in the prestigious competition.

Paul Cooper was part of a Worksop Town side that defeated National League North outfit Boston United 3-2 at the Windsor Foodservice Stadium on Saturday.

Against a side a step above in the English pyramid, Cooper started between the sticks for the Tigers and helped Worksop reach that stage of the FA Cup since 2001.

Worksop will travel to current Sky Bet League Two league leaders Stockport County in the next round.

Further success was had by Gateshead and Kyran Lofthouse over the weekend, as they overcame Stourbridge FC 3-0 in West Midlands to make it to this stage of the competition for the third year running.

The 22-year-old played the full tie and kept a clean sheet to set up a first round tie with Yeovil Town at Huish Park, the league leaders of National League South at present.

FA Cup first round ties are set to be played over the weekend of 4-5 November.

Well done to all of our players involved!
