NEILL COLLINS SPEAKS AHEAD OF FLEETWOOD CLASH

26 October 2023

Neill Collins spoke to the press ahead of the visit of Fleetwood Town in Sky Bet League One this Saturday.

ON RESULT OVER SHREWSBURY

"I was really pleased with the players. In terms of their ability to play in the first half under pressure, take the ball, play positively, play quickly. That was very good. Second half, of course, Shrewsbury are going to pose very different problems. We weren't as fluid, but apart from one set piece that bounced around the box. I think the challenge with a team that is improving is how to manage those moments better, better and better. They did it really well the other night, so hopefully they continue to handle it like that and continue to improve."

ON BEN KILLIP

"The team have done really well to help Ben come into the team. Protected him well, defended well. Ben's given the team confidence because he's been very stable, solid in everything he's done. So it's two-fold. Both go hand in hand. I'm pleased for Ben, he's a real hard trainer which I think means when he gets his opportunity he's ready for it."

ON CLEAN SHEETS

"The goals against column is relatively good. You always want it to be better but it's relatively good. Clean sheets have been good. But also we're looking to restrict chances, that's the biggest thing. I think we're starting to have more clean sheet performances. We probably got a couple of clean sheets earlier on in the season that were not what you would describe as a clean sheet performance and I think that's because we've had a little bit of continuity."

ON FLEETWOOD TOWN

"I'm sure they'll take a lot of confidence from their win on Tuesday night. Experienced manager. When you're at home, you take into account the oppponent and what we're going to do. It's a lot about how we approach it and how our players play. We want to try and force them to adapt to us and hopefully that's the case."
