JORDAN WILLIAMS AHEAD OF LINCOLN CLASH

23 November 2023

The skipper spoke to the press ahead of the Reds' clash with Lincoln City on Saturday.

ON RETURN OF PLAYERS TO THE SQUAD

"The more players we have available, the stronger the group is going to be and the stronger the team is going to be. That's going to make the performances better, people are competing for positions so it's great to have people back into the team."

ON DEBUTS OF YOUNGSTERS

"Yeah, it's massive. That's the reason I came to Barnsley when I first came here. I was a young lad, and now I'm the captain of the club. It shows for the young lads that are coming through at the minute that there's a platform there for them to perform, and if they do they'll get more opportunities. They just need to keep doing well and keep doing what they're doing really."

ON LEAGUE CAMPAIGN

"It's pretty similar at the minute (to last season's start). We've started off alright, we've got a decent amount of points on the board but obviously there's still a lot of room to improve and I think as a team we're still working on new things. We've got a new manager and he's still trying to implement what he wants to do. There are still people coming back from injury and illness. Once we get a fully fit squad and everyone's raring to go, knows their role, it's not going to be long before it clicks together and we can go on a run of winning games."

ON LINCOLN CITY

"It's a tough game. We went there last year and it was hard. We played them at home and we lost as well so I think we know we're going to be in for a close encounter but it's about how we step into the game and show what we want to do. It's not about them, it's about us. It's about us showing the type of style of football we want to play and trying to show that on the pitch."
