INTERNATIONAL ROUND UP

20 November 2023

Reds players have featured across the globe for their respective nations during the international break.

Callum Styles was in action for Hungary in UEFA Euro Qualifiers on Thursday evening, the Magyars securing qualification for next summer's tournament in Germany with a point against Bulgaria in Sofia.

The Reds midfielder started in central midfield in what was a high-tempered clash, the deciding moment coming in the seventh minute of added time as Dominik Szoboszlai swung in a free-kick which caused havoc in the area and was deflected home by Bulgaria defender Aleks Petkov to make it 2-2.

The Magyars rounded off a successful qualification with a 3-1 win over Montenegro at the Puskás Aréna on Sunday evening. Styles started the game and made way just after the hour mark with Hungary confirmed as table-toppers of Group G.

Fábio Jaló was on target for Portugal U19s on Wednesday afternoon, drawing 1-1 draw against Czech Republic in Belfast.

The 18-year-old opened the scoring with an emphatic volley for José Lima's side inside the opening ten minutes but Matej Zitny snatched a late equaliser in the friendly at Seaview Stadium.

A 2-0 victory followed for the young Portuguese outfit against Hungary at the same venue on Saturday. The training camp concludes with a final friendly against Northern Ireland U19 on Tuesday 21 November.

Jamaica faced their first leg against Canada on Saturday, losing 2-1 at the National Stadium Independence Park. Jon Russell was an unused substitute in that one, but the Reggae Boyz have chance to turn it around in the early hours of Wednesday morning at the BMO Field.

Josiah Dyer made the bench and was an unused substitute for the first time for Montserrat as they faced the Dominican Republic, winning 2-1 at the Blakes Estate Stadium. On Monday night Lee Bowyer's side welcome Barbados in another CONCACAF Nations League match in League B Group B.

Good luck to all our internationals with fixtures remaining, and congratulations to Callum Styles!
