The Reds striker spoke to iFollow Barnsley after netting the winner in a 1-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers at Oakwell on Tuesday night.
Back at Oakwell for the first time in league action for a month, the Reds were looking to build on the point earned at Lincoln City last weekend as we welcomed the Chairboys to South Yorkshire.
The scores evenly poised at 0-0 entering the latter stages, Cosgrove entered proceedings just after the hour mark and made an impact in the match, creating problems for the visitors' defence. His persistence in added time led to the 26-year-old tapping home from close range after a goalkeeping error by Max Strjyek.
"Goal of the month, potentially", joked Cosgrove. "It's a strange one, I won't lie. I've literally just seen the video back and it's never a foul. You can say there is a bit of contact, but there's absolutely not enough for him to be going down, especially dropping the ball. I've been desperate for that first goal.
"I've felt I've had to contribute to games in other ways since I've been here. It's been a bit stop-start for myself through injuries but I was absolutely delighted to get that in and once the ball fell to me there was no chance I wasn't going to put it in the back of the net.
"I'm up and running now."
