Our U18s’ Professional Development League play-off final against Charlton Athletic will take place at Oakwell!
The young Reds, crowned Northern champions back in April, will host the Addicks on Saturday 20 May in a 12pm kick-off.
A last gasp strike from Emmaisa Nzondo at the weekend saw Nicky Eaden’s side overcome Millwall in their semi-final tie and now they are one game away from creating history.
Standing in their way is a Charlton team that narrowly missed out on play-off success last season – losing to Sheffield United 2-1 having beaten Barnsley in the semis. They managed to exact revenge this time around, however, thumping the Blades 5-1 on Friday to progress to a third successive final.
It’s fitting that the respective league winners should be playing out this showpiece finale, with an incredible 165 goals scored between each side over the course of an enthralling campaign.
Charlton last visited South Yorkshire at the end of April – a game in which our young Reds claimed a 3-2 victory to ensure they maintained their impressive unbeaten home run this term.
Supporters wishing to attend this fixture can do so for FREE, with entry via the DX West Stand only. For anyone travelling to Oakwell by car, please park in the CK Beckett South Stand car park and not on Grove Street.
