PLEASE STAY OFF THE PITCH

6 May 2023

Ahead of our final game of the regular season, a polite reminder that it's against the law to enter the field of play.

As a Club in 22/23, we have seen relationships repaired, togetherness restored and enjoyed some highlight moments at Oakwell across the campaign.

With Sunday's 12pm clash with Peterborough United our 46th and final league fixture of the regular season, we are once again asking our supporters to remain in the stands at all times.

A campaign that has been successful enough so far to have ensured us a place in the end-of-season play-offs, naturally, our fans will want to show their appreciation to Michael Duff, his staff and players on Sunday afternoon.

This will be possible, but from the stands, and after the game has reached its natural conclusion.

"We plan to come back out shortly after the game," Duff admitted.

"It's the very least that we can do considering the immense support we've received throughout the season here at Oakwell and on our travels up and down the country; we want to thank the supporters for their backing, before we head into the play-offs next weekend.

"But for that to happen, we need those staying behind to remain in the stands. Please don't spoil it for others. I know the lads are keen to do a lap of honour, so to speak. That's the idea. We'll make our way around the perimeter and thank the Reds fans for their outstanding support!"

Pitch incursions are dangerous and anyone who does encroach onto the playing surface will face strong sanctions that could include a ban from attending matches here at Oakwell and across the country.

It is a criminal offence to enter the pitch and the real-life consequences for these actions have been felt by many with some fans receiving criminal records which can impact employment, education prospects and international travel.

Our plea to you is to keep the pitch for players and the stand for spectators and avoid any unnecessary disruption at such a crucial point of the season, whilst staying behind, in the stands after the full time whistle and allowing the staff and players to come back out and thank you for your backing.
