Ahead of our Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final against Sheffield Wednesday, Chief Executive Officer, Khaled El-Ahmad wrote this letter to you, the supporters.
Reds,
As we gear up for the most important game of our season, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible loyalty and passion you have shown for our team. The journey to Wembley has been long and hard-fought, but we are grateful to have you all behind us every step of the way.
On Monday, we face our South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final. We know that we will be outnumbered in the stadium, but I am confident that our underdog spirit – as it often has this year – can carry us through.
Throughout the season, we have seen some good performances and I have been proud of the determination and drive displayed by our staff and players. But we all know that our fans have played a huge part in getting us to where we are now.
Your unwavering support has lifted us up when we were down, and given us the confidence to keep fighting even in the toughest of matches, or the most challenging scenarios. So I urge you to continue to show your passion and dedication at Wembley on Monday.
At times this year we have been dealt a tough hand. But we fought on. Even off the field, we’ve faced our challenges head on. From the closure of the East Stand, the deluge of snow and of course, praying for the recovery of our dear friend and colleague, Beth Sefton. Through it all, we’ve come together and played that hand, and here we are, one step away from an immediate return to the Championship.
This is our moment to shine, and we are going to need every one of you to help us get over the finish line. Whether you are traveling to the game, or cheering us on from home, your support can help us.
So let's come together once more, as a community, united behind our team and determined to see them triumph against the odds.
