MICHAEL DUFF PREVIEWS PLAY-OFF FINAL MEETING

25 May 2023

Michael Duff previewed Monday's Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final clash against Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley Stadium, kicking off at 3pm.

ON INJURIES

"We have a full squad. Luckily, amazingly, no one seems to be feeling anything with a big game coming up! Touch wood, the next two or three days of training go well but we have the same pool of players to pick from."

ON SCHEDULE BUILDING UP TO THE GAME

"We travel down tomorrow. We'll have an hour at Wembley - just to get all the pictures and familiarise themselves. We've got a young team, not many of them have been there. We don't want them gawping around Wembley once the game starts.

"We'll go from there to the hotel then it will be a two-day run-in, as we always have done. We'll train at Brentford, then play the game Monday. We're trying to keep it as normal as we can, without trying to hide the fact that it's a big game at Wembley."

ON PREVIOUS MEETINGS WITH THE OWLS

"[On previous encounters impacting this one] They don't. Other than the fact we know we can beat them. I say it all the time, they're older, they're experienced, they have thousands more appearances. That might help, it might not. Our youth and naivety might help us. We won't know until the game pans out. There are two distinct ways of playing. We know we can hurt them. But we also know that they are a huge club with big players who a lot of time step up in big moments. Enjoy the day as much as you can, but we're going there to win - not for the day out."

ON SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

"If you look at the betting odds we'll be the underdogs. It's not me trying to create a narrative. They are the facts. They finished on 96 points. God knows how many goals they've scored, loads of clean sheets, 23 games unbeaten. Look what they've done after the first leg. But, they're in a one-off game with us now. The positive is that we know we can hurt them. I've said it before, going into the play-off games people talking about momentum - that didn't worry me. I've seen my team train and work every day. We think we know what we're going to get, hopefully someone can step up and be the hero."
