Mads Andersen is the winner of the 22/23 Player of the Season award.
Since joining in 2019, the Danish defender has continued to progress whilst at Oakwell and has established himself as a real fan favourite with the Reds fanbase.
Michael Duff handed over the captain's armband to the 25-year-old in pre-season, featuring 48 times so far for the Reds whilst leading by example at the back.
At the other end of the pitch, the Dane has utilised his aerial prowess to score two goals so far. The first came at Elland Road in our EFL Cup second-round tie with Leeds United, pegging one back to make it 2-1 back in August.
Andersen also found the net at Oakwell when we welcomed Plymouth Argyle back in March, heading in from close range to double our lead against the Pilgrims - eventually running out 3-0 winners.
His excellent performances across the whole campaign were recognised by the EFL, subsequently finding himself named in the EFL League One Team of the Season.
Andersen reacted to winning the award:
“I’m delighted to be named Player of the Season," began the defender.
“It has been a fantastic experience captaining the side so far this season and it isn’t over yet. We have three, hopefully four, huge games coming up.
“I'd like to thank all the staff, my teammates and the supporters for all their help and backing. You Reds!”
