Our 4-2 humbling of neighbours Sheffield Wednesday sees LMA recognition.
The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Rachel Yankey, Les Ferdinand, Clare Tomlinson, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry has determined that the Utilita Performance of the Week Award should go to Barnsley for the 4-2 victory against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday 21 March 2023.
Reds boss, Michael Duff received the trophy after training this morning.
The performance sealed a 10th victory in 12 unbeaten matches in Sky Bet League One as the Reds march on at this crucial stage of the 22/23 campaign.
First half goals from Devante Cole and James Norwood saw Barnsley race into a 2-0 lead before Lee Gregory clawed the Owls back into the contest before the half time interval.
Wednesday - unbeaten in 23 league games and top of the division - found a leveller, with Gregory again on target with 20 minutes remaining.
But late substitutions proved key as Max Watters pounced in front of a sold out Ponty End to restore our lead before Liam Kitching put the game to bed with a lung-busting run and finish to complete a league double over our South Yorkshire rivals.
