MICHAEL DUFF ON POMPEY CLASH

6 March 2023

Michael Duff sat down to talk with the media ahead of our Sky Bet League One home clash against Portsmouth on Tuesday evening, kicking off at 7:45pm.

ON INJURIES

"Luca feels much better. We'll get eyes on him this morning and make a decision on him whether he's fit enough. Speaking to him on the phone over the weekend, he feels a lot better, so hopefully it was just a 24-hour bug.

"It was probably the right decision to leave him out over the weekend. Rather than travelling for five hours on the bus, spending time with the lads and spreading it around the camp. We missed him, he's a good player, but hopefully, he'll be back involved Tuesday night.

"No new injuries. Robbie Cundy's back in full training with us this morning, so that's another one into the group. Other than your long-term ones and Brad (Collins), it's pretty much a full complement."

ON PORTSMOUTH

"They've started to pick up under John (Mousinho). You can see his methods starting to creep into the team, they want to play. It will be a tough challenge. They'll still think they have a chance of play-offs. We're in sixth place so if they beat us they get three points closer! It will be a tough challenge - just perform as we have been. Touch up on a little bit of detail, ultimately."

ON THE RECENT FORM OF TUESDAY'S OPPONENTS

"I think John's won six out of his ten games. I think they've won three out of the last four. The only game they've lost recently is Plymouth away. I don't think they're on their own getting beaten at Plymouth! It's going to be a tough challenge.

"John spent a lot of time with and learned a lot from Karl Robinson. They were 4-3-3, they've been a different version of it in the last couple of games.

"You look at the threats - they're all over the pitch. They'll be well supported like they always are. It's a good squad."

ON THE ATMOSPHERE AT OAKWELL

"Tuesday night under the lights. The lights, midweek games, they always seem to create that slightly better atmosphere. I don't know if the fans have had a couple of extra pints in the pub extra after work! It doesn't matter where you seem to go, the night games always seem to create a special atmosphere.

"We have to get on the front foot. The supporters have definitely come with us. We can work hand-in-hand to get three points."
