BETH SEFTON | AN UPDATE

2 June 2023

As the season draws to a close, we have more news on the health and recovery of our dear friend and colleague.

It's been around 14 weeks now since our Head of Ticketing and employee of Barnsley FC for over 16 years, Beth Sefton was rushed into hospital for emergency, life-saving surgery.

As a club we have been with her every step of the way. From her fellow colleagues, to the players and staff, alongside the support of our fanbase, we've come together at a critical moment to aid and assist in her recovery.

There will always be a place here at Oakwell for Beth, as soon as she makes a full recovery. But that recovery is going to be a long process.

Kieron, her beloved husband updates us: "After recent setbacks that Beth has suffered, we are still waiting for a place to open back up again for the specialist rehabilitation that she needs for her condition to improve further.

"We all know that NHS resources are scarce these days and unfortunately, the resources aren't there anymore to meet specialist demands without long waiting lists.

"The wait is tough, but she continues to fight and we expect the eventual outcome to be positive. Her personality is showing through and she was disappointed along with the rest of us when she heard about the conclusion to the Play-Off Final.

"Beth cares a great deal about Barnsley Football Club and has put her heart and soul into it over the years, so she would want it to thrive and succeed. For the time being, she will unfortunately be unable to return to her usual post, but we know there'll always be a place for her at BFC once she's ready for it."

Alongside Kieron and Beth's family, including her three boys, we have been so proud of the support for her from the stands during games and her fundraiser total continues to grow all the time thanks to the generosity of our loyal fanbase.

We will continue to update you all on Beth's progress and once again, thank you for your kind words and generous donations.
