Jon Russell has been called up by Jamaica for their CONCACAF Gold Cup squad.
Our midfielder will be in contention to represent his nation when the Reggae Boyz take on the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, and St Kitts and Nevis.
The tournament gets underway on Saturday evening as hosts and holders USA face Jamaica in Chicago, although the kick-off time for UK supporters is 2:30am on Sunday morning due to the time difference.
Should Heimir Hallgrímsson’s side advance to the knockout phase and beyond, Russell could be on international duty until the competition reaches its conclusion in California on 16 July.
Jamaica have finished as Gold Cup runners-up on two occasions, suffering final defeats to Mexico in 2015 and USA in 2017.
