In our third instalment of 'Road to Recovery' with the Irishman, McCarthy is raring to go ahead of the start of pre-season on Monday.
It has been a long journey back for our centre-back since sustaining a ruptured ACL back in September against Charlton Athletic at Oakwell.
However, after slowly building back up to full fitness, the defender is now ready to go attack the start of the preparations ahead of the 23/24 campaign.
"I'm in a really good place," he positively began. "I got the all-clear from the surgeon a couple of days ago so I'm fit and raring to go for the new season.
"After the play-off final I was in for a week and a half when the lads were off, just working, making sure I was right. Then I had ten days off to kind of switch off and mentally get ready for the next season."
