Jonathan Bland made his Wales U19s debut on Thursday afternoon.
The youngster was introduced at the break – replacing Swansea City’s Daniel Watts – in Cardiff as Cymru fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against their Swedish counterparts.
A penalty from skipper Emmanuel Tannor, who plies his trade with Italian outfit Parma, shortly before the hour mark was all that separated the two teams in a keenly contested encounter.
It is the first time our U18s captain has competed at this level, having previously represented Wales at younger age groups.
Rob Edwards’ side will once again entertain the Swedes on Sunday 18 June in a 3pm kick-off at the Leckwith Stadium, Cardiff, with supporters able to attend for free.
