The 18-year-old spoke following our 2-1 victory over Worksop Town on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds were given a good contest at Sandy Lane by the Tigers in what was our opening pre-season fixture of the 23/24 season.
Adam Phillips' opener midway through the first half was cancelled out with just under ten minutes to play by Lewis Hall for the hosts. However, there was enough time remaining in the affair for Oli Shaw to cleverly dink over Reds loanee Adam Hayton to begin the summer with a win.
The rotation that pre-season games allow saw the Reds field a youthful second-half side, one that included a member of the title-winning U18s side at the end of the last campaign, Josh McKay.
The full-back found the experience in Nottinghamshire one that was extremely beneficial for his development.
"It was good, against some big men! A lot of got league experiences, so it was good physically, a test technically - but also mentally," admitted the Barnsley-born graduate.
"You've got to be up for it, you can't be scared thinking he's bigger than you, you've got to go in and win your one-on-one duels."
