The central midfielder spoke to iFollow Barnsley after the Reds' 2-1 win victory over Crewe Alexandra on Saturday afternoon.
Kane played 90 minutes for the Reds ahead of our first game of the 23/24 campaign against Port Vale on Saturday 5 August.
The summer break has been shorter than usual this time around for the Reds, but Kane insists there is a confident mentality amongst the squad as we approach the new season.
"Yeah, it's been good," began the Bristolian. "It was good to get 90 minutes in the legs and ready for a big game next week.
"We haven't had too long (of a break) but I think the boys have prepared well and have worked hard in training.
"We're looking forward to it."
"We're getting used to the way that we're going to play this season and we're only going to get better."
The team have also now had chance to work with new Head Coach, Neill Collins for almost a month now, learning more about how the Scotsman wants the Reds to play this season.
The adaptation is going well, according to Kane, including a few tweaks to the demands of his own role within the team.
"Different coaches have different ideas. We're getting used to the way that we're going to play this season and we're only going to get better.
"I'm maybe a little bit deeper, but I think that might suit me, getting on the ball and trying to get the boys playing a little bit more.
"I'm enjoying it."
