Barnsley completed their pre-season schedule with a 2-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra at Oakwell.
The visitors had a couple of early openings with Liam Roberts being forced into a smart stop to his left to deny a Crewe opener. But the Reds began to take control of proceedings and soon went in front.
A fine move started with an incisive pass out of the defence by Liam Kitching to Nicky Cadden on the left-hand side. The Scotsman broke the line with a ball to Callum Styles, who drove forward and slotted in Norwood. His tricky footwork in the box afforded the striker the room to get a shot off which was placed in the bottom corner of Harvey Davies' goal.
The Reds' lead almost doubled ten minutes later after a quick one-two between Norwood and Cadden allowed the Scot to fire on goal from close range. However, the low drive was well stopped by 'keeper Davies.
After a period of both sides having opportunities to threaten the opposition's goal, the game stagnated and returned to a pace more associated with a fixture at this time of year.
This pattern of play continued until the break, the Reds in the ascendency in the game and on the scoreboard.

Not long after the restart, the Reds made it 2-0. A free-kick on the left was bent in with pace by Cadden and met firmly by Łopata inside the area who left the 'keeper rooted to his spot.
A ball slid through by Devante Cole looked to have evaded half-time substitute, Barry Cotter on the right but he showed superb athleticism to dig out a teasing cross for Max Watters at the back post who narrowly missed the delivery to make it three.
Despite the Reds' dominance in the affair, the Alex pulled one back with 20 minutes to play after Shilow Tracey slotted the ball underneath Roberts.
It was another opportunity to gain minutes and gather more information, in the baking South Yorkshire sunshine, but attentions now switch to next Saturday's opening league fixture of the 23/24 Sky Bet League One season.
