Aiden Marsh has signed a new deal that will keep him at Oakwell until 2024.
This latest extension also includes the option of a further year for the young striker, who has been part of the Reds’ set-up since 2014.
He made his debut in January 2022 as a second half substitute against Bournemouth in the Sky Bet Championship and almost scored with his first touch – testing Mark Travers with a fierce drive from range.
Marsh fulfilled his boyhood dream of scoring for Barnsley later that season with a cultured finish at home to Preston North End.
An injury-hit 22/23 campaign resulted in limited game-time for the 20-year-old, who also had a loan spell at Scunthorpe United, but he got 45 minutes under his belt in our first pre-season outing against Worksop Town on 1 July.
“I’m delighted to get it sorted out,” beamed Marsh. “It’s a Club I’ve been at since God-knows-when, and obviously supported them even before that, so I’m buzzing to still be here.
“It’s similar sort of people all the way through – it’s not just me coming through the academy; there’s coaches coming through the academy and progressing to the first team as well. There’s Tom Harban and Martin Devaney, who played a big part last season, so everyone has helped me through.”
Congratulations, Marshy!
